The Haus

The first building of what eventually would become our "Mas des Olivettes", was erected back in the XIV century. It was first used as a sheep-fold and was later transformed into a dwelling. 
In the XVI century, a new wing was added. 
From then until 1994, nothing much hanged -it remained a farm house in the midst of vineyeards- but in 1994, alterations to the house were started, bringing the living area to about 300 square metres.
Our land covers, in total, about 18.000 square metres.  It is today essentially surrounded by vineyards, olive trees having undergone a grave damage further to a very cold winter in 1956 (there was at that time no more than 6 % of olive trees in the Pyrénées Orientales), far away from any other habitation -a completely peacefull "refuge from the world outside"-. The closest village is in 2 km. Situated in the foothills of the Pyrénées, in the French region of Roussillon, it is not completely isolated. It is 15mn from the quiet sizeable town of Thuir, with all commerce - and 30 mn from the city of Perpignan, with its history, shopping centres, cinemas and airport.
